It is hard to contextualize
Ezekiel's visionary city. Yet it bears striking resemblance to
other temple complexes found throughout the world (I am using "temple
city" synonymously with "temple complex" since both conceive their
boundaries along the outer edge as world boundaries.)
Note the similarity in design of the Indian temple at Tanjore, the
Egyptian Karnak temple, and of course Herod's
Temple relied heavily
on Ezekiel's overall temple boundaries (no such outer boundaries existed
in Solomon's Temple).
